I dabble. In many, many things, both in business and within any downtime I manage to enjoy. One of my dabbles is Instagram.
This week my teenage daughter asked me, with scorn dripping from her tone, why I get so few Likes and why do so few people follow me. For me Instagram is just a fun way to share pictures that catch my eye, another way to keep in touch with friends who also loiter there, and it’s actually the simplest way to get a photo from my iPhone onto Facebook (which I keep for personal use).
But, she says, “it would be so awesome if you were Instagram famous” (whatever that actually means) because then she would be Instagram famous too. Well of course I replied that perhaps we should turn that around and she put in the effort to be famous as she has more time and has her fandoms… But then a small but mighty voice in my head called out “challenge accepted”, for goodness’ sake… Not for vanity, because that’s just silly and I’ve no time for frippery. It could, however, be useful for a new project I’m just going live with at tenanting.co.uk. And it would do no harm to better understand this social media plaything that the youth of today seem to so thoroughly enjoy 😉 (when they’re not Snapchatting, that is)
And that is what I will do. We are in the throes of moving so actually having a small extra thing to distract me, something light and fun and potentially useful for the new project – well let’s see.
I read an article recently on how to increase your followers, so the first step is to track that down and see what I think, plus do wider research…
Then to get back into using Canva for some images, consider hashtags and generally just get on with it.
I will share what I learn here, of course, and any tips you have are most welcome – just pop them below and we can test things out.
